World's Best Daddy

What a wonderful Daddy Hudson has! He not only played hookey on Thursday - Hudson had what we thought was an ear infection (turned out to be just a cold and lots of teeth coming in) so Daddy volunteered to take Hudson to the doctor while Mommy went to Ballet class then just ran errands with us and had lunch - but he also took Friday off...to build a swing set! And he had so much fun doing it! I'm sure the best part came when Hudson took his first swing with a huge smile on his face!!!

Oh, where to begin!

Making Progress

Hudson thought climbing the slide was super fun!

Is it time to swing yet?

YEA...Swinging!!

Happy Easter

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Easter! This weekend has been so wonderful and the weather has matched! Today, after one of the best church services I've been to, we enjoyed brunch at a local restaurant with Kevin's family then headed home for an egg hunt and gifts! Hudson didn't know whether to hunt eggs or play with his new bubble mower from Grandma D!

Huntin' Eggs

Lawn Mower
Yesterday, we went the Emma "Lizzie" Gott's Bday party! It sure was fun playing with all the kids, enjoying our first egg hunt and having some strawberry and cream cheese icing bunny cake! Mommy and Daddy were quite impressed how Hudson immediately went to the eggs and put them in his basket. Lizzie, the bday girl, was classic...she went around opening the eggs and pulling out the goodies then throwing the empty eggs back on the ground!

Happy Easter to ALL!!!

New Stats & A Birthday (or two)!

First off...today we had Hudson's 15 month check-up! All checked out normal and he's still holding strong in the 50th percentile for height & weight (31 inches & 24 lb 2 oz respectively) and 25th percentile for head (which I still can't get over)! He did fairly well with his 2 shots and is now sleeping peacefully! We do need to work on his speech...the boy can follow directions, point out body parts and put himself to bed, but he won't say a word (other than babbling). Hopefully by our 18 month appt we'll have some talking under our belt!
Having a snack before we go back!

Sippin' on some juice before my shots

In other DeLine news, it's BEASLEY'S 5th BIRTHDAY! I can't believe he's already 5 - which is like 35 - so actually he and Kevin are the same age!! Him turning 5 reminds me that our 5 year anniversary is coming up...1/2 a decade...WOW!!! HAPPY BDAY BEAS!

One of my favorite pics...doing his second favorite lake activity...riding on the boat.

Beasley first lake passion...SWIMMING! Look at the tired tongue!

p.s. Sweet Emma (Lizzy) Gott is also celebrating a Bday today (#3)...can't wait for the big Bday Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow!

On the Serious Side

I was laying in bed, trying to get to sleep, my mind was racing. I was thinking of all the things I did, all the things I needed to do and all the things I have to do tomorrow then my mind quickly went to all of my blessings. Our healthy family (other than the yearly cough Kevin now has again), Kevin's wonderful job that allows me to stay at home with Hudson, and the love from our family and friends. I then thought of Hudson. He is definitely my biggest blessing so far and wow - has he changed my life. He is so precious, and I am so thankful for each day that I get to be his mommy - even those days when I feel all he does is shake his head 'no' as he does something he's not supposed to but all I want to do is laugh. My mind wandered to Our Heavenly Father and His Son and the rememberance of the upcoming Easter weekend. I thought about how much Our Lord loved His Son just as I love Hudson. I then imagined myself making the same sacrifice Our Father made and my heart ached. He sent Jesus, His Son, to walk among us, teach us and eventually die for us. If given the choice, I'm not sure I could make the same one God made. It suddenly brought all of my trivial dilemmas in life into perspective - again. If God can know and understand what it is like to give up and lose a child, He definitely understands my struggles.
A few weeks back, Andy Stanley (our pastor) talked about quiet time with God. He mentioned how most of the time we do all the talking...asking, thanking, asking...and I was convicted. God is there for me to talk to, but what if he needs to talk back? Sometimes I think it's easier for me to 'work it out on my own,' but it's not. Anything and everything should be turned over into His hands for guidance and learning. I admit, I struggle with this but hope each day I can recall how awesome His sacrifice and turn everything over to Him!

Girls Weekend

What a weekend...I was finally able to get away with the girls!! It was my first weekend away from Hudson, but I must admit, it was a little easier than I thought since he was with Kevin. Friday afternoon I headed to the lake with Allison to meet Melissa and Jodi! And for a night on the town at Lake Martin, where else do you go...but Niffer's! (For those who don't live in Auburn, a trip to Niffer's is coveted!) It was great as always - although Allison's pea-sized potato and three pieces of lettuce left something to be desired...good thing margaritas and girly snacks were back at the cabin! Most of Saturday was spent eating (of course) and scrapbooking! All of us were in desparate need and boy did we scrapbook! I finally finished Hudson's first year book!! YEA!! Now I just have all of 2007 to do! Oh, well...isn't that what Kindegarten days are for! :-)

Allison, Melissa, Me, Jodi

In grand form, we did have a little excitement...last year the fire department was called...this year...we needed a snake wrangler! Yes...SNAKE!! Jodi happened to glance outside and notice a FOUR FOOT snake right next to the window! So, what do girls do...scare it off of course! Well, no one will be calling us to "scare" off a snake anytime soon. As we start throwing things, stomping, clapping - anything - the snake slithers its way to Allison's car then under her car then UP her car!!!! After we are guaranteed the snake CANNOT get into the car from underneath, Jodi gets brave and hops in...she backs up and nothing then goes forward tapping the brakes and guess what...apparently snakes don't like bumps - he scurried from underneath the car quite quickly and into the woods!! Yea for Jodi!!

our new friend

Thanks girls for a wonderful weekend! Like I told Allison, maybe we can get away twice a year instead of only once!
And good news Lake Martin goers...water is up and beautiful.

Thursday Thoughts

So, I know most people have a "Thoughtless Thursday" but I have had one of those days. Everyone in my household woke up this morning as usual. Hudson played in our bathroom as Kevin and I got ready for the day, we then went downstairs to have a little milk and cinnamon toast. Daddy left for work then Hudson and I left for his Mother's Morning Out!! Woo Hoo...you just can't replace my Tuesday & Thursday mornings! Reason 1...I'm finally back to dancing. I am taking a ballet class with Atlanta Ballet and LOVE it!! I left class early - so I could get home to vacuum before I took a shower...and that's when the day turned!
I usually shampoo and leave in my conditioner until the end of my shower - well - sometimes I just forget to rinse it out at the end and today was one of those sometimes - so back in the shower to rinse! I pick up Hudson - who actually took a nap today - and decide to head to Dillard's - it's Clinique Free Gift & I need some Moisture Surge - if you don't know about Moisture Surge, you must try it! Well, on our way, I hear a "weird" noise from the backseat only to turn around and find Hudson non-stop throwing up! Trying to keep my cool and seeing a Babies R Us to my right, I pull in! First comes out Hudson and he is stripped naked in the middle of the parking lot! Next, the blanket, book and bunny covered in puke! I throw on his jacket (note to self - put backup clothes in the car), run into Babies R Us and buy the closest outfit - rip off the tags and throw them on the boy! Now, everyone is clean so we still head to Dillard's. But wait, this is the 2nd Dillard's I have visited b/c there was no Moisture Surge at the first and guess what...NO Moisture Surge at this one either!! Akkk!!
So, I decide, let's go get a water for the boy - I can only imagine what his mouth tastes like! And against better judgement, I just take the stroller down the escalator...Kevin does it all the time...why can't I? I'll tell you why...this escalator is the "skinny person only" escalator and the front wheel of the stroller had turned so at the bottom with escalator stairs falling under me - I'M STUCK!! The 15 seconds seemed like 15 minutes, until a lovely man came to my rescue!!! Thank you Lovely Man!
The day got better as we went to Pottery Barn Kids and found a "backup" bunny for naptime which is actually a dog!
So, here I am, about to go stain Hudson-man's rocking chair and head off to the Dunwoody UMC Consignment Sale to hopeful turn this day around! :-)

Auburn Trip

So, I know it's been like a week since we went down to Auburn but here is a little recap! We have been going to Auburn quite a bit lately b/c Kevin has been doing some recruiting for his company in the College of Engineering. He loves it, and I love visiting! After his interviews Thursday, we stuck around downtown and while Kevin and Hudson had a beer (& juice), I went shopping then we took a stroll around campus! After, we headed to the AU Baseball game! (My second favorite Auburn sport!) We only stayed for the first few innings, but we were able to see Auburn score 7 on VMI! Kevin also took Friday off and we met with a realtor - yes realtor - but don't get too excited Auburn buddies, it was for possible rental property! Or so we thought, the realtor/developer started telling us about a new development of his & it is EXACTLY what we have been looking for in Auburn! Like I mentioned, it is brand new (just been cleared) so the Phase we would be interested in building in won't be ready for another 2-4 years...PERFECT Timing! I am now really excited about our possible future in Auburn!
Anyway...we had so much fun! Here are some pics from our trip!

Mommy & Daddy hope one day I'll be wearing a Cap & Gown by this sign!

This is what I thought of Aubie - maybe it will go better during football season!

Pondering the Game

Daddy got me an Official Auburn Baseball from one of the coaches!

Daddy helped me ride Mallory's scooter

"What a Long Day!"
