Pumpkin Patch

Today was the big Pumpkin Picking Out Day! We have felt like such slackers for waiting so late...but the wonderful weather sure made us thankful! We decided to stay "close" this year {not traveling over an hour to one of the big farms around Atlanta} and headed to "Holy Cow Farm!" What a treat...we packed a lunch, picked up Grandma D...and Next Stop: Pumpkins, Hayride & Petting Zoo!!! Hudson could've picked out pumpkins all day! It was non-stop "punkins...punkins...punkins!!" We finally talked him into going to see the Donkey & Llama...and sheep...and chickens...and bunnies...and "horsies"!! He loved it...although...I think Mommy loved it more {until the sheep incident - more later}! His reaction to the horses were that similar to Aubie...LOVED it as long as it was 4 feet away and didn't move!
So...my new friend, Mr. Sheep! I can't say I've ever pet a sheep before..so I was definitely game. He felt so odd...super thick, sort of soft and...well, wooly! After a good 2-3 minutes, I had enough and headed to Penelope the {house-trained} Pig. Mr. Sheep didn't much care for my decision & gave me a little nudge...then another...then another! After no response from me, he backed up...I'm thinking, "Okay, he's backing off." Until...he crouched down, gained some speed & RAMMED me in the thigh!!! WHAT? Yes, RAMMED me in the thigh! And that wasn't it...try THREE more times I'm walloped until the "trainer" comes over to help...you read correctly..."trainer" - not Kevin - "trainer!" Anyway, once it was over I couldn't stop laughing...I just wish the reason Kevin didn't help was b/c he was getting it on video...oh, well!
If you're in the Alpharetta area, Holy Cow Farm is open all year. It would be a great for morning play-dates!
I'm pretty sure I was taking this pic in "mid-nudge!"
BTW...not sure what's up with Kevin's "Chandler Bing" smile...but it was actually the best family photo of the day...pretty sad, huh?!

Busy...Busy

We've been so busy this week...what's best...I can actually point to things that have kept us busy!
Monday, Caroline came over while her mommy took Herschel {the pug} to the vet by our house...she and Hudson actually played together! They blew bubbles, pushed each other on "Tow Mater," climbed the ladder and swung {?} on the swings.
Tuesday was school as usual {but} mommy got to spend some quality time with my friend, Target!! I walked leisurely through the store for an hour & a half!! Woo Hoo! Probably not the best use of time, but I sure did enjoy it!
Wednesday we enjoyed an an hour & a half at the Y followed by our first of 4 private swim lessons. {Let me take you back - Hudson was moved up from 'Shrimps' to 'Barnacles' b/c he can now swim on his own & put his face in the water. However, 'Barnacles' is usually reserved for those 2 1/2-3 yrs old...which meant, when we showed up, he was a good year younger than the others...not to mention he totally freaked since Mommy was not in the water.} Hence, private lessons! So what happened? He still freaked...Mommy was sent out of the pool room...he calmed down & did what the teacher said...mommy came back...and it was overall a SUCCESS!
After swim, we went to hang out with Miss Ashley, Emma & Charlie! Emma is 3 1/2 & didn't quite understand that she couldn't "boss" Hudson around! Charlie is 5 months old & absolutely precious! The best part was watching Hudson pat his arm & hold his hand then give a huge smile! If the sweet Lord decides to bless us with another little one, I know Hudson will be a great Big Brother!
Today...Hudson had school & Mommy spent her day a little wiser than Tuesday. Our dining room table has become an open 'junk drawer' of sorts & I'm done with it! So, oddly enough, I cleaned out one of our closets then bought a great 'cubby-shelf-cabinet' to organize the stuff...keeping it out of the way but easy to get to! Now...if I could only organize the stuff & put it out of the way but easy to get to!
Now...we're watching our Auburn Tigers...of course, leading at the half...then giving up a TD to a wide-open receiver! I'm going to put the computer away in hopes it was the cause of our "bad luck!" War Eagle!!!
Pics of Hudson before half-time...we're considering waking him up to see if we start playing better!

Sprucing Up

I thought I give the ol' blog a new look for Fall! I just love this weather and am ready for the Holidays!!

Catching Up...

So I feel like I haven't blogged in a while...we've been so busy with the start of Fall! This weekend finally feels like Fall & I LOVE it!
Well {back to the Arkansas game}, other than the score, we had a great time. Mimi {aka my mom} kept Hudson for most of the morning then brought him & cousin Mallory to the tailgate around 1:30 - just in time for Tiger Walk! We actually stood in line as the players got off the buses & {to my surprise} Hudson thought it was cool to put his hand out for "High Fives!" He looked so little next to those BIG players! Kevin's Dad and his wife came up for the game too! {Although, I'm pretty sure they came up mainly to see the Little Man!} Hudson and Mallory wore their jerseys & really enjoyed the game...completely oblivious to the outcome {I'm trying to see the games through those eyes...after all, I've always been & will always be an Auburn Tiger...and there's always next year}!

"What Happened?!"
Last week was pretty un-eventful until Friday morning. Hudson started his "new" swim lessons...the lessons where Mommy doesn't have to get in the water anymore {YAY}! Unfortunately, it was a disaster that led Mommy to schedule private lessons for the next 4 weeks! Maybe after then he'll be okay with just "Tez" being in the water with him! Please pray for us!!
Since Daddy was already in Auburn Thursday & Friday holding on-campus interviews for his company, we drove down to pick him up & headed to the lake. Daddy hoped to get one last ski in for the year, but it was just too cold & oftly windy! Not to mention we were awakened at 3 AM to "Daddy...Mommy...Paci" over and over! Well, yes, Hudson was awake and awake until 4:30! At that time he decided to take cat naps until 7:00! Needlesstosay, we only had enough energy to eat breakfast, winterize the boat to put it away until next March and drive back to Atlanta!
We're pretty excited about this week though...it will be our first WHOLE week at home in quite a while! Hudson and I have plans for a playdate with friends we haven't seen in months, & we're headed up to the Pumpkin Patch this Saturday! A little late {I know} but the weather should be just right & this place even has a Petting Zoo!!!

Learning...

So after reading about all these little ones learning new things (like Little Mary Evans and Miss Ella)...Just thought I'd share this one (I only wish I had a sound bite to share too)!

Mommy: What does a Horse say?
Hudson: Neigh
Mommy: What does a Bird say?
Hudson: Wheat (i.e. Tweat)
Mommy: What do we say to Elephants?
Hudson: BOOOOOOO!!!!

Mommy is so very proud (sorry bama friends)!!

(BTW...Little man has been working on counting & getting very good!)
